Felix sits impervious.

You get that way,
after a while,
after many attacks.

His battlements
are strong.

His merlons are high,
and his crenels narrow.

Hes pulled his drawbridge
years ago,
now no one may enter in.

His moat is wide,
and deadly deep.

Bobby

you do get that way, after too many attacks...

I hope inside, he is still tender.

First of all, dear Bobby, little ole me had to look up the word "merlon"

n.
1.  a solid section between two crenels in a crenelated battlement lol Aw, that explains it!

Seriously speaking, I hope Felix doesn't keep himself isolated for long. I have some understanding as to how the slings and arrows of life can make one want to pull up the drawbridge.

Great metaphorical writing, Bobby!

((((hugs))) to both you and Felix.

SEA,

Yes, Felix remains very tender inside.  That's why he needs his fortress.

Everyone should have one.  Those that don't, don't survive in any livable way.

Felix has seen that happen.

Linda,

Thanks dear, from both Felix and Bobby.  Don't worry, Felix takes his protection with him--kinda like a turtle.

everyone assuredly should have an ever-wide and deadly-deep moot!
(and this is not a 'moot point' that Sir Robert and Felix make here!)

applause for this 'penning!'

Secondhanddreampoet,

Yikes, thanks for pointing that out.

I wish I could say it was a typo, but it wasn't.  I'm afraid I'm a numbers person, and not a word person.

You're a lifesaver.

I know what you mean about survival, Bobby.
I've had to build a bit of a fortress myself and though I like warm , fuzzy people I can't be too much like that myself.

Ida,

Warm, fuzzy people are great.  However, being warm and fuzzy is not something all of us can be, and still survive.

In the near future, something is going to happen to Felix that will allow him to become warm and fuzzy.

Don't worry, don't panic, the child have learned form life experience, that warm and fuzzy won't win the race for him.

Felix learned early, that it's a cruel and brutal world.  He learned that the hard way, and no matter what, he never forgot it.

Life's a fight.

Bobby

Dear RDB,

Yes, Felix is strong.  He has had to be to survive, what with all the people sticking it to him.
