He died.
He died
And no-body cried.
No-body cared.
No one was scared.
Thought, 'What will I do?'
They already knew.

He was a kind man
A gentle man
Always first to the bar
And last to the table
And he'd help anyone
In whatever way he was able
To.
And every other week
He turned the other cheek
Because that's what he'd been taught
To do.

And he'd died.

In the middle of the night
Whilst everyone else slept.

No one thought about
Where he was heading
Or, once he got there
What he might find.

Just of what they'd be getting
Out of the things he'd left behind.

And he'd died.

He'd died
And no-body cried
No-body cared
Thought,
'What am I supposed to do?'
They already knew.

Oh, and the legacy?
No-body could agree.

This is a really moving poem. I love it. I know there are people out there that can relate to this poem, and they would really appreciate it.

Great job!

Simon,

Your poem happens to some people.  It's an incentive to have a large family, and to keep connected.

Fine writing...when you say nobody grieved I associate that with nobody cared...and thats sad for them...perhaps they had their reasons...James

Simon, there was so much raw emotion in this poem, that I do believe it just poured out of your heart and onto the page with nary an edit.
~ and it did not need an edit! It was pure, potent, and poetic.

God bless that man for whom nobody grieved ~ but there is this poem that shows someone did care!

Simon

So sad, so often true - and I am glad that you said it.

Im not leaving anything behind, if I don't spend it I'm taking it with me as Murphy's law dictates when (if?) I get up stairs it won't be a free bar....
