While The Hours Tick Away

I have often wondered why
When I lay down in bed
I have millions of thoughts
Swirl through my head

Its here as questions begin
Why, where and when
Its another of those nights
Unable to sleep again

I became a typical nightowl
Always awake at night
Thoughts remained active
Until first morning light

Those late night ponderings
Hoping dreams return
While the hours tick away
Thoughts toss and turn

Hope, most of my nights are like that, but they tend to be when I write the most, I liked this & can relate so well

Exactamondo! I've been there ~ and I ain't going back (Well, there still is the occasional restless night!) Honestly Hope, I suffered with insomnia for years. I could not shut my mind off when I went to bed. Finally I said to myself, "Enough is enough!" I now go to bed and put myself in a beautiful place and whenever an unpleasant or worrisome thought comes to mind, I just ignore it. I literally "Let go" and slip off to sleep.
It's amazing! I'm not a long sleeper ~ but I now am a very deep sleeper ~ and I feel so much better the next day!

Your poem perfectly described what it used to be like for me!

As my grandmother used to say:
"Sleep well! Sleep tight!
Don't let the bedbugs bite!"

~ and sweet dreams!

Giving you a beddy-bye hug each night,
ad infinitum

Sleeplessness is a tragic state to be in but if you can put all negative thoughts

out of your mind and refuse to let them back in, it will let you go off to sleep.

Beleive me Hope I've tried it and it works.

Good luck and sleep tight.

Lindsay
