Springs' promise long lay wintering
awaiting such a day,
a signal from the distant sun
to chase the ice away.
A trickle from the melting snow
in lieu of any tear,
for seasons' change draws nigh again
the time is almost here.

Her pulse begins its' quickening,
we harken to the sound
and sense a great awakening
each day is gaining ground.
And, while may yet be premature
to think her cause is won,
the slant of Sols' approaching rays
says winter's almost done.

The rhythm of each passing day
sees daylight hours increase,
where once did seem from cold and dark
would never find surcease.
Though joyous over her return
in time, grows bittersweet,
as now each passing season hints
of one less we shall greet.

A trickle joins a growing stream,
great rivers flow to sea,
as all the ways we measure time
run to eternity.
