Felix is
cold, hungry,
and miserable.

Thereís no heat.

Momís gone crazy,
and thrown a beer can
through the front window.

Felix isnít old enough to know,
everyone doesnít live that way.

He just smiles, and
pays little mind
to discomfort.

Heís been blest
with a ton of
good nature.

Bobby

I'm glad he smiled, just proves he has an indomitable nature,

Now this is so moving, dear Bobby, it hurts.
Children find something to put their mind on even under the worst circumstances. Felix probably was expanding in a world of fantasy, while playing ... so he did not feel the cramps of hunger. And when parents go crazy, children tend to show their sensitive understanding in ways that amaze us.

Thank you, Bobby.

love this

...and it is his "good nature" that has enabled Felix to not only survive his misfortunes, but to actually thrive!

He's a tough cookie, and tough cookies don't crumble! Mind you, inside he's sweet and mushy,  but he can't hide that from his fans!

Wow, Bobby. Tell Felix I can really relate to this one. My Mom had a pretty bad drinking problem and I never knew what to expect. She would be fine for a while and the go crazy and do some really off the wall things. She had a completely sad life and many demons and probably needed a level of psychiatric care that just wasn't available then. Maybe that was the case with Felix's Mom.

I think that Felix touches many of us.

My father was bi polar.  I remember one day he got the axe and chopped up his wooden captain's chair.  That kind of stuff was just part of our 'normal' life.

John,

Felix has to smile, if he wasn't able to smile he would indeed be in awful trouble.

As you say, Felix has to have an indomitable nature.  He's lucky that way.

Dear Margherita,

What you say is very true.  This was inspired by what a family in back of the house, and across the alley is going through.

I haven't yet figured out how to help them.  I'm working on it.  As I've said before, the hood full of Felix's.

Linda,

What you say is very true.  Felix's experiences have made him a very tough cookie--and that's the positive result of a very unfortunate history.  He's lucky that way.

Ida,

It's good you can relate to this.  I'm sure that is the problem with Felix's Mom.

I'll let Felix know, it will help him to know he is not alone.

Alison,

It's good you can relate to this story.  Many of us can.

My Father was also a violent man.

Dear RDB,

You will be happy to know that Felix smiles quite a bit.  That's something he can afford to do, and he takes advantage of that.  He laughs too.

Whether it is a blessing or not for Felix to be ignorant that the rest of the world does not suffer in the same way is an intriguing question.  Perhaps.....ignorance is bliss.
