To Forgive Myself

No matter what may come my way
I can survive as long as you are there
I think that is what friends are for
When I need someone who cares

It is so much harder to forgive myself
For the mistakes that I may make in life
Self loathing starts to play a great big part
For those mistakes I can’t make right

There are those mistakes that can’t be fixed
No matter how bad I may want to
And, if you have a heart as big as I have
Those mistakes will forever haunt you

How much, I wonder, can one heart take
Sometimes, I think it will surely break

A warm welcome to this wonderful land

And you poem is beautiful, directly from heart.
A very important life lesson to learn is to forgive oneself. If the guilt has bothered you and other people's life, then the quilt has already lost the original power and started causing new problems. It is nice to write is out in poem.

enjoyed your beautiful poem.

Welcome to these blue pages, Oklahoma Rose.
Your presentation was lovely...nice script!
Forgiveness also seems more difficult when it's a self-forgiveness issue.
Well done, poet.

Oklahoma Rose, perhaps you are too hard on yourself. To err is human. I have often found that people with the most generous hearts are also the ones who have gentle and sensitive sensitive spirits. Love yourself as you love others, and then you will be able to forgive yourself ~ if there is anything really to forgive! ~ Which I doubt.

Giving you a warm, welcoming, understanding, compassionate pip hug,

Earth Angel

Great poem! I can definitely relate to this. I have so many regrets- many of them insignificant. It's hard when you blame yourself for everything. I love how you put this feeling in words.

Welcome to land of forgiveness! I enjoyed this & hope you stick around and continue posting. Do not beat yourself up, we all make mistakes, not everyone however can recognise & begin to address when we have done so and set about making amends. Actually, maybe that should read that they are too stubborn to admit they made the errors in the first place. For me Poetry is if you like, a way of pennance for the wrongs I/we feel guilty for....

Welcome, welcome.  This is a grand entrance piece, but I do hope you're not too hard on yourself.  After all, if God can forgive us, who are we to be so unforgiving?

Looking forward to more.
