Chesapeake valleys, bursts of light running across their faces, never wanting to end, settlers living on through these mountains, small birds break my thought, relocating my mind to the freshness of the air. My skin absorbing the un-changed atmosphere, seeming to be frozen in a by gone era, a log cabin to my left; old and rustic with a welcoming sense about it, a river to my right, cutting through the dense foliage, creating a rhythm throughout the forest. Knee high grass hundreds of feet below me, dancing in the spring wind, shaking along with the beat of the river, all in harmony. Creating a symphony within me, the grass swaying creating a brushing noise, the river flowing, making dripping sounds, I soon realize my eyes had started to shutter close. Catching my self in mid-nostalgia I absorb the most I could. Packing up my things, seeming too soon, I silently wave good-bye subconsciously to a place where I will always feel at home. No matter when I come back. Or what state I’m in, these grasslands and ridges have bestowed a sense of security in my bones, and I couldn’t ask for more.

I agree, the beauty that surrounds us,
unspeakable, untouchable...and we daily enslave ourselves to that breathtaking beauty, while the sun shines amongst the trees, rivers glisten, as we are contained in our boxes...

I am a mountain girl, myself, lover of nature, the outdoors, the beauty of the wood!

Preston!!! You're baaaack! ~ and so is your Muse!!! What a fantastically descriptive and soul-stirring write!

With this lovely meditative piece of poetry, you have created a symphony in me, as well! Well done! I know of such a place ~ and you just brought it vividly back to me! Thanks! I needed that!

Giving you ~ and your muse! ~ a big, warm, welcome-back hug,

Linda

I enjoyed the whole piece, it's totally after my own heart.

You listen well and your sight is perfect.
