      Man’s  Purpose?

Over a thousand miles
  of winter forests,
a falling star flames far
beyond these mystic hills,
that have bathed in
400 million years of
   fine moonlight,
(before the dawn of man’s
   trifling intent)
in “Deep-Time’s”
infinite void.

All ‘life’ is mist…
in a chill rain falling
from a frosty sky.

Ahh, what a vision, dear Bruce!

Man's Purpose? Quite the question!!!! We are here, among other mysterious reasons, to enjoy the rain and the sun and the stars and the white forests and to feel the connection with All there is, as you do ...

I believe we are eternal souls, experiencing in flesh and spirit down here on Earth the beauty of creation, as well as the misery of our hearts, to find the cure that heals all things ... LOVE.

Beautiful. Above the mist there is always light.

love

Man's Purpose?
Why it's to please WOMAN.
Seriously, I have no idea what man's purpose is on Terra Firma. My answer to that query has changed with time.
If one believes in a deity, perhaps, it is to a-muse said deity?

Everything is so grand and beautiful, then why man? To enjoy and write poem, I guess.

Beautiful as always.

Perhaps part of Man's purpose is to witness the beauty of nature you have described here? Again, it is difficult to choose a favorite series of lines, but I'll take

"a falling star flames far
beyond these mystic hills,
that have bathed in
400 million years of
   fine moonlight,"

And especially:

"All ‘life’ is mist…
in a chill rain falling
from a frosty sky."

Secondhanddreampoet,

This is a well written puzzle.

Man’s purpose is to eat from the tree of forbidden fruit, work, and die.

Fine write, Bruce. I hope we have more purpose in the final scheme of things than to eat the forbidden fruit, work and die.
The beauty of your words leads me to believe so.

Lovely.

I was watching the Northern Lights dance last night and saw a star shoot across the sky.  Maybe we are egotistical to assume that we have a purpose.  Maybe we were placed here as an example of how the smaller picture fits in the larger one.
