      Moon Dreams

As the last lovely songbird
sings the setting sun…
a fine farewell,
and the sky is trimmed
in high-curling clouds,
(arched in a grand
   star-taper canopy)
on this profound Winter’s
  eve,
soft moonlight spills
over meadow and forest,
chasing the brooding
  twilight shadows,
to mellow man’s
terrors and trappings
  of the day.
It is then that the deep
  spirit senses,
our most precious dreams
are never truly lost
to cruel reality’s crush,
but linger instead
to dance forever…
on the far side of that
  mystic moon!

Bravo!!! What a wonderful (dangerously verging on optimistic?) write!

Secondhanddreampoet,

This is very fine work.  As your typical cynical wise-guy, I’ve always wondered what happened to those most precious dreams.  As you note, they’re now way past the moon-- and that’s fine.  I’m happy with the not too precious, more mundane dreams realized.  Thank God for them.

Bruce, it is reassuring to know that

"our most precious dreams
are never truly lost"

and that they will

"linger instead
to dance forever…
on the far side of that
  mystic moon!"
