.
Last night I gave Rhiannon a farewell kiss
But before she went to sleep
She gave me a big, long list
Of promises I must keep

She recited them one by one
As we cuddled in the dark
After making me swear they would be done
I had to cross my heart

We have got to watch a movie
She wants to see “The Water Horse”
Then go for dinner to KFC
(And sit inside of course)

I’ve got to teach her to drive a car
And how I write poetry
Learn the names of every star
And both learn how to ski

By now the tears had welled in my eyes
And Rhiannon made me get on my knees
Swear to God that you won't die...
Promise Daddy.....Please ???

Well, if your daughter's love isn't enough incentive for you to get better and get back to her, then I'll eat my 'halo'!

What a wonderful father/daughter relationship you have. God bless you both!

I do not know what your surgery is for, but before I underwent my quadruple coronary by-pass, my daughters were behaving and feeling much the same as your daughter has. A child's love can get us through pretty much anything that comes our way in life.

Love & healing hugs,

Linda

John, I love the relationship that you often talk about, with your daughter, I hope she reads these things and feels so proud.

Guys

I so want to reply individually but Rhiannon has worn me out over the weekend & I am feeling quite whacked ..I need to be up early in the Am....Simon, you know the time but for our friends across the water, it is 12:30 am and I have to make an early start... besides which I am rather emotional having read all the lovely posts to which I have responded I hope without missing anyone off the list...special mention to Zach before I trot up the wooden hill...keep at it lil Bro'  later.

Dear John...though my daughter, Michelle, passed on many years ago, she still sits next to me, a gardian angel true.  I'm sure the living loving spirit of your Rhiannon, sits with you too.  Your poem touched my heart.

well, I don't know how to ski and really it's not one of those things on my list either LOL

everyone should have a Bucket List, and keep adding to it, to make sure life is lived to the fullest each and every day

and baby girls are just the best things in the world, aren't they?

I, among so many others, hold you and your daughter in this time, pray you will come through just fine.

John,

This is pretty good work.  The rhyming pattern is interesting, and complex.

John,

The love that you share with your daughter is a gift that you share with all of us.  Thank you for that.

Also, thank you for returning to all of us.  I know that your days are going to be filled with KFC and learning the names of all the stars, but know that you are cared for lots here too.

Your friend,
Alison

Ali, you have to give to receive, I get that back ten fold from you guys, I am so glad to be back amongst my peers, I almost feel like crying, but happy tears you know? As for the stars….I have learned the names of so many in such a short space of time. Rather than write them all out, I will point you to them……if you look at the posts above, just to the left of each reply  is the name of each star that burns so brightly within my heart & soul listed by their individual names….I know I am cared for here & I return that feeling with all sincerity,

Thank you my friend

John  xx
