What a great way
to start the day,
logging onto my computer
to find a chain letter
and then it gets better,
a blessing from the higher power
with candles, birds and flowers,
a generic one (nothing personal)
Instructing me to annoy
10 other people with it.
Maybe I just don't get it.
I'm supposed to have fantastic luck,
all I need to do is pass the buck.
And then I notice 14 messages
in my bulk mail
and not a one applies to me.
Most are concerned with the male anatomy.
No, I won't need any Viagra today
and I really have to say,
"How did I get on this list?"
I could go on about it
but I think you get the gist.

Oh yes, dear Ida, I got the gist!

You got this frustrating situation in perfect poetic flow!

Lately things are getting worse. I must say the best "clean" mail I have is gmail (google). Almost no undesidered mail gets through.

The highest rate of spam arrives on my chairman's e-mail ... it must be because of his presence on "Who's Who in ..."!! He knows nothing of that of course, there is Margherita THE ERASER!

It was fun to read, but it is really an awful thing to cope with.

love,
Margherita

Ida-
Cleverly and succinctly stated!  Enjoyed your wit and musings on this most annoying curse of technology.

But you are lucky Ida in having made so many friends on PIP including me, and being

able to write such lovely verse, very lucky indeed. A big hug to you dear lady.

Ida,

This is a funny one.  I get some E-mail like that, mainly from my brother-in-law.  He's a sweet guy, and I love him dearly--but!

Whenever he sends me E-mail that is forwarded, I automatically delete it.

The greatest dangers of the cyberworld are far, far more subtle! They involve a wide-range of forms of 'self-expression' (and many aspects of what should remain strictly in 'private lives') being mistaken for 'talent' and 'art'... then, marketed to a worldwide public in various ways as such and/or as 'entertainment!' George Orwell had the right idea but the wrong protagonist...'big brother' is not really the government...it is megalithic international corporate conglomerato-monsters (governments typically representing only their political stooges) and the 'net' (and its tendency to make absolutely all aspects of life reducible only to that which is 'economically marketable') ultimately  their (historically) finest forum for ultimate control over (and homogenizing of) the masses of humanity (into sources of ever-increasing 'profit potential') worldwide.

Applause for this interesting 'write!'

Loved this!  I've got two relatives that although I send the snopes.com reference to them on every single urban legend they send me, they still fall for every single one of they get!

I must admit though, the "getting to know your friends" quizzes suck me in every time!  I always answers those and pass them on, so now I get a million of them!
