In an upside-down garden

0 posted 2008-02-22 03:06 PM

There is me, asleep
in hotel sheets, stumbling
wrapped in loneliness,
drunken, slurring words
that do not impress,

press
against me, in airports
yawning deep
beneath my winter coat
bundled broken burning

while he, he is still
around
holding up the
picture frames, black
and white
these simple
child games we played-

but we're not in the car anymore,
and he still won't let me drive

And here, there's me
falling
from balconies,
dreamspeech
clutching glitter beads

Waving fists in air

"See? See?
Someone around here wants me"

I suggest, now,
that
the falseness of his pretenses
is as stiff as the ironed
shirt and tie
hanging in the closet,

while we argue
tireless and stupid
waiting for the ice to fall
for some kind of
a reprieve (get away from me)

And see?

There is me, asleep
in your arms, new sheets
movement has forgotten me,
wrapped in you, contently.

Left alone to dream.

[My muse has a hangover.]

Hmmm, so that's what I have to do to write something as edgy and interesting as this! I have to get my muse intoxicated! I'll see what I can do! This could prove to be very interesting! ~ or be disasterous!

I am glad that your muse had a bit of free time.  Wonderful poem and Linda is right .. it is edgy in the best way.
