    Shadow Mountain

A moon-lantern hangs
in the fine cosmic void
of infinitely rippling stars,
over this flawless lake
and vast-free wilderness.

The winter wind whispers
   private melodies
through pin-oak fingers
of withered leaves,
along these lonely paths,
heading nowhere.

Here, on shadow mountain,
cares and life drift away
with the silken clouds
and black river ice…

Only time and transience
   tarry!

Secondhanddreampoet,

I don't know "Shadow Mountain".

I do remember:

"lonely paths,
heading nowhere."

What is the meaning of that date in the future?

Shadow Mountain, as so many of your landscapes, Poet, appears to be a dimension of the soul, where we find loving respect for the unique essence of everything in its natural state. Each plant, wood, cloud, river, star, and the eternal moon is Thou, and each is sacred. A different logic, strength and wisdom rule here.

Some people just know how to get to the truth of the matter. You challenge us all to think, Poet.

Came back for another read, and remembered how much I liked the above imagery!
