February 21, Every Year

Today you emerged
from hibernation.
I felt you tapping
the shoulder
of my memory.

"Look," you said,
"I am swept
under the heartbeat
of memory, sleeping,
covered by hours,
then by days,
finally by years,
until my laughter
fades from memory
and the sound of my voice
is lost."

"I am only noticed
when February cuts into
your heart
or in my picture,
one sided and posed."

"You look for me
across the mountain top
as if my ashes are what
seed the ground.
I can feel the pilgrimage
of your feet upon my soul."

"I want you to know,
that your heart beat
is me,
and the ache
in womb,
the full blue-veined
breast of remembering
is where you can find me,
and I will always be there."

"Trust your tears."
-----------
In loving memory of Michelle and with the knowledge that she would want this day to be one filled with the joy of her memory, not of her loss.  Today I will turn my feelings in a positive direction, for her, and for my beloved husband, Taylor, who will be getting his heart fixed today.

Martie, Please know I am thinking of you on this day as you remember Michelle, I hope everything works out with Taylor also, it may help to know my brother recently underwent 5 bypasses in LA ( January 16) and is doing remarkably well..

Best

John

Martie-

Its good that you are thinking postive at a time like this. It must be really hard to stay focus and to think postive. But you hang on there.

Lossing someone that close, Your own Child must be Horrible, And its good that you can think postive in such a horrible tragic time of the year.

And the fact that your husband is having heart surgery today makes it harder, But you are very strong, I respect that a lot

I have to say though, The backround in your photo was very beautiful, Sets the tone of spiritualness Kind of thing!-- Anyways, I hope that you will fight through this day...

Hope you day is filled with happiness, Your in my prayers!

A very emotional day for you, to be sure. Wrapping my arms around you. I trust that all went well with Taylor's heart surgery. I pray for a complete and speedy recovery. I have a feeling that Michelle is looking over her Daddy ~ and Mommy.

Loving, compassionate hug,
Linda

Martie, Your yearly poem  is so touching. We all seem to have a reason to be sharing your feelings. With me... our Joanne left us on Feb.16 1994 which seems a long time ago.  She is always with us too. sincerely "late"
