                 Easter

Easter time comes around each year,
It signifies the death of Christ,
Betrayed by Judas so long ago
And he just had to pay the price.

He was crucified upon the cross
As most Christians all believe,
He died to save us from our sins
Or that’s what most of us perceive.

Easter time is a sacred time
That we rejoice with family and friends,
We give out gifts to everyone
And a feeling good to all extends.

Every one loves to get an Easter Egg,
All the children’s faces light with glee,
It is usually one of the happiest times
That comes around annually.

There’s chocolate bunnies at Easter time
That bring smiles to each child’s face,
Chocolate stains from ear to ear,
To all the kids it’s common place.

There’s chocolate eggs & chocolate frogs
And hard boiled eggs as well,
All painted up in colors bright
That little fingers can’t repel.

I remember when our kids were small,
We’d hide eggs around the place,
Then Good Friday morn the search was on,
Results easy seen in each small happy face.

So Easter time comes round once more,
A time of happiness and good will,
May good health and peace be with you all
And another New Years hopes fulfill .

LindsayP,

Nice writing—however, Easter is not all about Good Friday.  It’s more about the celebration of the miracle of the Risen Christ.

One year we played a trick on my youngest son.  Everyone had Easter baskets full of good stuff.  Except for my youngest son, we gave him a basket with one lone black jelly bean.  He made a big happy fuss over that lone black egg.

We knew then we had a winner.  He got married last Saturday to beautiful girl from Iran.  They are both sweet people, and university math professors.

Lindsay,

We have friends whose granddaughter bears your name.

Our friends, and family will gather 'round
the day
before Easter, for a brunch and some fun
as we watch six grandchildren play
and those who teach will recite some words
so that our fun will also have its day...

it's through traditions that we recite
what we know with some common sense
and in the love, and light of wondrous times
we keep our children from feeling tense.

Happy Easter, Sir.

God bless you and your family.

Dear Lindsay, I enjoyed reading your lovely and peaceful Easter poem. I love the tradition of hiding the baskets for children. It's great when there is a garden of course.

The gospel was long and painful today ... but knowing of Jesus' resurrection makes it bearable. What I have some difficulty in accepting is the role of Judas and his condemnation. He was chosen because of his unlimited love, in my belief. Just a side remark.

May you have a serene week of preparation for Easter!

Love,
Margherita

Ida, James and Artic Wind, I can always count on you dear friends to give me a kind

response. It is very much appreciated.
Have a great Easter and God Bless.

And Arctic Wind I tried to submit a response for your beautiful poem about the

Magnolia tree but it wouldn't register, I thought it was one of your best.
