My little silver Citroen Saxo
grinned at me this morning
from upon the almost vertical
clean and sparkling rear side
of an audacious red Volkswagen.

Proudly she reflected into my face
her artfully compressed shape,
looking as flat and as large,
as a luxurious exclusive Porsche.
Excited by her trendy design
she felt suddenly so bold
in the joyous mood to race
through the sleepy streets of Rome.

She was quite a sight to behold!
Just like Lightning McQueen
of Disney’s famous movie “Cars”
she was living her own sweet dream
acting as boisterous and wild
as if she was a world famous star
much admired for her victories.

And all around St. Peter’s square
tourists, nuns and distracted priests
jumped and fled in total disbelief
at the sight of Lightning McQueen
flashing by happily and carefree.

Thank you all for the loving replies on this silly-mood write, after all it is true that I am one of those mad Romans Zyskandar A. Jaimot referred to in his poem "Grave Ode" ...!

A special warm hug to dear Ethel. I'm so happy you came back! Stay please and share your beautiful poetry with us again.

love and smiles

Margherita,

Nice poem, nice car--patting car on the hood.

It's been a while since I've roamed the sleepy streets of Rome.

You’ll find Felix "Behind Closed Doors" in "Mature Content".  We thought we'd stay there, and not have the Puritan mothers and fathers banish us there.
