winter's silken glaze

hollow ring of weeping bells

sunlight's paradox

Somehow funerals seem even sadder in the snow. but the poem is beautiful.

Icebox,

There should be a law against dying in the winter time--very good poem.

Sunlight's paradox indeed.  I even heard the bells this time.  I've missed being here and reading you, Mr. C.  *hugs*.....jo

I can't think of any funeral more beautifully framed than this ... I associate death with light. And here on Earth we probably can't witness a greater light than the sun reverberating on the snowcrystals ...

The paradox may be felt in the sadness of those left behind and the bright sunlight. Yes.

Icebox, who better than you knows the secrets of snow?

Wonderful!

You forgot the wind.

It's been a very long cold winter...
and you've captured the scene very well.

The impact of your words is made greater by this short form and the beautiful stark images and contrasts.

Street pumps soaked in cold,
black skirts hemmed in dirty white,
tears warm frozen cheeks.
