Before I Was Dream

Hard to say, if every drop begins this way
Tangling my socks in a snare of brambles
Hide and seek between the yards of sunset rambles
Sibling songs and wailed gone wrongs
Summer stars of drive In cars, and campouts by the pines
Snow caves carved through supper starved and shivering
But weightlessly, sleep was effortless

Finding pace and pedantry along a lazy stream
Nightmare years, inspired me to dream
Hard to say, if every drop begins this way
If every dance by chance a leaf the wind might sway
Should I think too much or not enough as such
Or shall I dream, the way the water goes
Floating sticks and skippings stones, it knows
Leaving missing parts discarded to the fishes
Effortless the weight of these few wishes

Hard to say, if every drop begins this way
Snaggling my slip on desk drawers trip, to finally run
These attributes are finely toned, and never done
I sing at funerals, and cry at wedding bells
In all these picture perfect scenes, my eyes are wells
The personalities of trees, speak freely to the flower
So much to learn, and more to be…still to discern each fly from bee
All this, came as rain, before I was dream

Before I was dream, I was but a speck of
sand,  lying still in wait a breeze....
my destiny then planned.

Lying near the watery edge, where fish and
frogs do swim....slumbering softly beneath
a hedge ... not me, not me....just them.
