Weary

I came in weary from a rat race run
turned on music to soothe a savage beast
started bubbling water hot to loosen aches
on muscles I before had never known I had
a tear fell from my eyes in anger or in hurt
of knowing too much or not quite enough
and wondered if I could finally loosen my lips
from the force of politically correctness existence
or would someone hear my cries and call it bias
here, here
I find damp calm under the umbrella bathroom
where the day of blood, guns and constant lies fade
and I can rain in silence filling the tub in tears
I find it all too much on some days the things we do
so carelessly to others in our paper headline lives
maybe it is that I feel too much and hide too much
I should have been born another time or place
simple on the porch like my grandmother sewing
rocking to the lullaby of wind in brogans brown
while I race in combat blacks trying not to judge
deep in my heart I do know I made the right decision
to be this woman with a star being weak and strong
being hated and misunderstood by those I try to help
and tomorrow I will have another day to go on being
the best I can
weary

Oh, I love this and your consciousness of doing the right thing. Despite the obstacles.

Wonderful write.

"maybe it is that I feel too much and hide too much

I say that all the time, Helen. And it does seem that civility has lost its place in society.

Deeply felt write.

The way of the warrior is demanding and often very lonely.

Your society would be less without you and the choices you make and the actions you take.

Thank you for sharing your feelings here.

You are needed
because you do think
and care and hurt.

You are needed
because you cry
and write poetry to share

Helen, you are needed
for the job you do
and for the woman that you are.

Thank you for venting here,
A
