Felix, Butch, and Wawa—
they swim the blue hole.

It’s right there,
in White Water Creek.

The water’s always
nice and warm,

even when the weathers
cool, and rainy.

The blue hole sometimes
makes them sick.

White Water Creek
is the hospital’s laundry outfall.

Felix, Butch, and Wawa—
they end up with great immune systems.

Bobby

Dear RDB,

Yes, it's me, Bobby Jordan.  It was fun swimming in that old "Blue Hole".  We didn't know that it was making us sick.  We did develop a lovely immune system from it.

My ISP had trouble with my E-mail, so I had to get this new identity.

Thanks so much for your comments.

Love Bobby

Robert E. Jordan ~ a very distinguished name for a poet!

So that was why the water was warm! ~ the laundry 'wash out' from the hospital! Egads, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger!

What I like about your poetry, Bobby, is the vivid reality of it. I'm right there in the trenches ~ so to speak ~ with Felix and the gang!

I am always amazed to think that my brothers and I lived to become adults because of the things we got into as kids.
Kids just seem to survive some how (most of the time)

Bobby

When I was a kid we used to eat mud & play with worms, take turns drinking from the same soda bottle & as far as I remember, none of us ever got ill.....these days certainly here in the UK, you are far more likely to catch something horrible inside the hospital..Tell the kids to be careful

Earth Angel,

Thanks for your kind words.  I always try to keep it real.

Ida,

Yes, it is amazing how kids do mostly survive the hardest trials.

Passing shadows,

I’ve heard it said that if you survive the first ten years, you’ll live to be ninety or so.

John,

What you say is true here in the U. S. also.  Hospitals are dangerous places.  I try to keep away from them.

Nice writing...reminds me of some of the crazy things I did as a child...one time in Florida I decided to go across the bay on an innertube...I made it quite a ways across and since I was padaling backwords I would turn to see what was in front of me everynow land than...and this time I saw what appeared to be a shark fin...I headed back as fast as I could, all the while thinking that shark was going to bite me on the butt...James

James,

That would be scarier than hell—well, almost.  It would make someone stop and think—“Do I really want to get wet today?”  We are lucky you are still with us.  Sharks can be hungry.

WindWalker,

Thanks so much for digging this one up.

Felix, Butch, and Wawa are strong in so many ways.  They are like hammered steel.  Their strong immune system is part of that strength.

Nothing fazes them.

Your title induced me to think of wonderful blue waters ... the reality of this story instead almost knocks me over.

You will live up to 120 years as is expected in the near future ...

Oh my!!

Dear Margherita,

Thanks for that.  I'd love to live to at least 120 years.

This reminds me of when I was a kid and used to swim in some very dirty water.  But we did not mind since we were kids.
