Listening to every heart

Looking for the Wild Rose

Who knows where the wild rose grows
In rocky crag, or mountainous slag
Beside the brook, oh, where should one look?
For where would the wild rose grow?

The gypsy, she had said to me
“Find where the wild rose grows ~
Follow, you see, yon honeybee
And search for your wild red rose.”

Honeybee and I searched deep valleys
Beyond fields so green, we waded streams
Following a trance, honeybee and I
All for the wild rose dream.

We looked so far and wide, you see
To find where such a wild rose might grow,
But elusive it is, it resides, who knows?
Where, indeed, does the wild rose glow?

The gypsy said I would find my love
That he and I would never part
Wherever in secret the wild rose grows
Perhaps it blooms only in my lonesome heart.

But should you find where the wild rose grows
Will you cleverly send me a sign?
For I would love the Love that stands
Wherever, for that wild rose may still be mine.

The wild rose is within you. It's eunique, and that is why it is so hard to find, difficult to capture.

Beautiful muse.

Sunshine,

Wild roses can be found all over, sometimes in the strangest and most surprising places.  You'll recognize them when you meet them.

I use to have wild rose bushes on my property that were here many years before I came. Wish I still had them.

Karilea, I think you do know that the wild rose grows within but how well you have penned this to make others know.  Lovely!

Sheer poetry! Just like the romantic poets wrote in days of yore! A present day classic! ~ and as lovely as a wild rose.

a most grand-fine 'penning!'

I am especially fond of:

"The gypsy said I would find my love
That he and I would never part
Wherever in secret the wild rose grows
Perhaps it blooms only in my lonesome heart."

serious, sustained applause!!
