.
As sunshine filters through the shades
I rise to meet the day
Trying to forget the dreams
I fought to chase away

Though the daylight hours seem to drag
Night soon begins to fall
And I find myself alone again
Facing Midnights call

With no one laying at my side
To keep my fears at bay
Or in whom I can confide
Why did you go away?

No one ever told me
The pain would be this bad
But the thought of some body else loving you
Is what really makes me sad

Are you still frightened of the thunder
And to sleep without the light
Do you think of me I wonder
Now you have his arms to hold you tight?

My soul is torn wide open
My world is ripped apart
And all of my dreams lay broken

Beside my aching heart.....

Simon

He knows he is not alone, unfortnately, he thinks he can deal with it better if he props up the bar for a few hours......all I can do is be there to pick him up

From experience, we know that people just don't leave without what they feel is good cause. A very sensitive write, effjayel..you are indeed a good friend to him. But you can't save him...only he can do that.

Sunshine....So true and I will not take sides, I know there is wrong doing by both of them. I also know I cannot save Him, He must do that himself..I only wait in the wings should He need a helping hand ...I believe we must do what we can to help each other as we travel this road of life, I offer whatever support is required and who knows, one day I may need to call on him for help and support.

Thanks for your concern & kind reply.

beautifully done. Sad.
I knew that two men begged and it worked...of course the two women are wonderful and are very, very kind. Man, sometimes are mindless.

Tom

You are right, sometimes Men do the stupidest things, I try not too & this may sound biased but I think the likes of ourselves are less likely to be as incosiderate as a lot of guys given our poetic slant, Now someone is bound to leap on me & say Keats, Kipling & Shakespeare were sadists or wife beaters ! Seriously, I do think you have to come from a 'gentler' angle if you are in touch with your creative ( Female?) side, don't you agree?

Thanks for reading & commenting...

Hope, I am sorry to hear your Son is suffering. I can only imagine the hurt he is going through....I can offer no words that will ease that for Him.  I will however, keep Him in my thoughts...I am happy that He has ypou to turn to though...

Thank You for replying...

John...Very touching write no matter who it's about, the pain suffered from a lost love is a terrible thing to deal with and you write of it very well.I hope your friend heals their broken heart..Paul

Thanks Paul... not had to deal with that depth of pain myself so it can be difficult to know what to say or do...all I can do is wait for the 'phone to go, and it will. Just hope I can give the support required...
BTW, what happened to your pic, did it fall off or did I break it???

By "mindless" I mean that man shall learn two things
1. A good comment will make a woman work for him for 10 years.
2. Hugs and kisses will tie her
3. if man knows none of the two, then patiently search for  the  one whom God tailored esp for him. (many don't wait).

Anyway, good ladies are everywhere.

Such a good friend, you are.
I am glad he is in your life
and that you are there to show him you care.

Are you still frightened of the thunder
And to sleep without the light
Do you think of me I wonder
Now you have his arms to hold you tight?

This kind of hit close to home.
Very good writing throughout, but this part ...

Well, good writing.  I keep coming back to read it again.

This one came to life so quickly, I could barely write it fast enough. I am happy how it came out & glad you enjoyed it.

Tom, I understand, you may have rescued yourself with that final comment, but you might get some grief from the Ladies for item No 1 !! Thanks for stopping by again.

Lindsay, Thank you for your wonderful comments, I am so happy you liked it.

"You are right, sometimes Men do the stupidest things..."

I  agree. And  you know that saying "the grass is ( thought to be) greener on the other side of the fence."  well it isn't.. as someone  once told me, it still has to be maintained.

I get tired of hearing today that man is not "made" to be married to only one person for all  his life, since  we are living longer.

I think there are different kinds of love and if its real and you  understand it, you will know that sex is not the be all to end all as the media and magazines and  movies etc. are making it out to be.

In that case why marry, as so many  of the younger generation are not doing today..or if they are, it is short lived.

There is so much more to a relationship and even though it changes so should the acceptance of aging and all that comes with it.

(besides propping up the bar is not a good thing to be doing)

I will probably get myself into trouble with my opinion, but still married after 37 years,  with  the last 7 being very traumatic under the circumstances and one of the reasons I am still here posting, and still there for him until he and I can both  stand on our own...shows the deep caring and respect that I have for him as he once was, even though it may seem unappreciated and has been testing me in so many ways. jmo

John, you have made me reflect a bit this morning.

John, this is a very sensitive write, I enjoyed reading it and I think too many can relate ...
Your friend, like all of us, we have to learn to LET GO, wishing only true happiness to those who have left, it's the only attitude that brings peace and makes the hurt ones ready for new love.

Beautifully written.

M

How many have climbed the fence only to discover it was a trick of the light & the grass was actually greener in the pasture they deserted..and to then spend every waking hour trying to get back what once was. Even worse, to then complain when a new green keeper takes up residence….you are spot on with the maintenance element too.

As for not wanting to be with someone because we are living longer, utter twaddle ! 2 lifetimes is still not long enough when you truly care for some one and I admire you tremendously for supporting your partner through what is obviously very trying times for you both…one can stop loving but not caring I think.

I myself have been with the same partner for 28 years & life has had it’s up’s and downs, but I’m still here.  I for one would not take you to task for your commitment to Him in this difficult time. One day He will realise how lucky he was to have you stand by him through “Thick & Thin” At the moment, he cannot appreciate what you are doing for him as I am sure he has a lot of anger pushing to the forefront of his mind…..Hang in there and please, do not give up, it WILL all come out right in the finish. I really believe that

Best regards

John
