When finally that glass of wine
cannot cut the lines
that keep two minds entwined
I look towards reflections
as a means of severing
what once was beautiful.

And it’s like you do that too
when knowing that the march of time
has left lack where once abundance
and made the smooth to wrinkle
but apart and aside
and indeed the worst of kinds
the reflection mirrored back
by another person’s eyes.

I see it there most every day
but it’s more inside the feel
that turns and churns unworthiness
as if it’s really real
to make of my significance
and my magnificence
a non-essential thing.

But so and such; ‘tis just no love
that tries to suffocate
and too in that world
where minds of like entwine
nothing touches skin to skin
because ~ and it must surely be
because I am the way I am!

Sad but very sweet and I do hope the sun

soon shines for you. Take care.

It has a touch of Yeats in it, too good.

Once again I am impressed by your powerful poetic rendering of this "state of things".

The affirmation "I am who I am" links you beautifully to the One Who perfectly knows your value and loves you the way you are.

love and hugs

Thanks everyone for your kind comments.  Sometimes its hard to stand firm in the knowing of who you are amidst the vibes of disparagement.  It can take lifetimes to know who and how you are and I'm not letting all that effort go to waste.
