Bobbling Her Bobble Head

You have to figure out what you can give
because you know, people respect those who can compromise
more than those who always win, he said.
And she listened and went back to the drawing board
and sliced and diced with a salad shooter filled with syllables,
mapping out the middle ground.

It’s not easy, she muttered, playing follow the leader
when I am the leader and I can’t find my way through the nuances
of conversations that don’t lead to the point,
but seem to drift off into obscurity leaving me to interpret
when I don’t know the language.

She bobbled her head intelligently and saw a realization dawning
that hey! she is maybe meant (and ready) for management.
While she smiled behind her turtle neck
and thought she has been there before and there is no map around
that will lead her back down that endless path
obscured by hot air and chilly attitudes.

No, she is not going back.
They don’t realize that she doesn’t know the language.

Ali, this is amazing! I especially like the line: “a salad shooter filled with syllables “   I would not want to try & say that with a drink or 2 in me..

Take my advice & go for it, you are as ready now as you will ever be. And don’t forget, compromise is a 2 way street, let them learn your language because you have a lot to say and contribute.  Good Luck & Go Girl !

John

Alison,

Perhaps this would be more clear to me if it was left justified.

Somehow I found this rather confusing.  Strive for simplicity.

Hi Fareed,

Thank you for reading and taking the time to comment.  A lot of what I write is personal - some is simply an observation of the world around me.  I hope it all reads personal though.

John,

Thank you.  You made me smile -- and no, I don't want it.  I am wearing garlic as I write this to ward off potential offers - again, thank you.

Bobby,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.  Sometimes we, as readers, just have to go with the flow of the poet's mind.  I always figure if I don't 'get' some thing - maybe it was not written for me.
