Decline

And so the bright flame
       declines
       midst the charred remnants
       of adult tedium.

Lost lumins
       in a pit
       of unrelenting
       mediocrity.

Where oxygen is wasted
       on burnt embers
       no longer capable
       of sustaining a spark.

Such is the dim glow
       that lights the
       passing of
       our flickering culture.

excellent 'write!'

I am especially fond of the ending!:

"the dim glow
       that lights the
       passing of
       our flickering culture(!)"

effective 'word-painting' of the "Runaway American Dream!"

serious applause for this 'penning!'
