"To Break Away"

I wonder, should I run away
And start my life anew?
Or should I press on wearily
Beneath the shade of you?

I wonder what the future holds
And will I know my place?
Or am I trapped by mem'ries,
Haunted by your smiling face?

I wonder, if I break away
And put the past behind,
My loved ones, will they understand,
And put me from their minds?

Or will they do as I have done
And let life slip away
While vainly hoping I'll return
Some distant, joyous day?
