I often wondered about that salad
and your elbows on the table
being nonchalant and playful

like I was really your food
and the green things were mementos
that you toyed with intending

to keep my attention elsewhere
from where you knew it was
already deserting the main course

for something more final
that would be my just desserts
and you would be pleased to offer

something sinful for a topping

The great thing about salads is they are so tastey and can be offered up in so many different ways dontcha think?  Enjoyed it D.

And you did this with a salad, you know it is amazing how you build your poems into delicious dishes of beauty and enchantment.

Salad is kind of slow food, therefore you have all the time to dream of the perfect dessert, which does not necessarily need to be consumed on the spot....

napkins serve little
to hide the blush of hunger's
forceful appetite.

Fine dining takes on new meaning...
