You see I don't write about you anymore.
I've nothing in my heart for you.
And I'm not quite sure of where
whatever was there went off to.

It just takes all I've got these days
just to get by and throw in a smile,
and the more I have other goings-on
the longer and longer becomes the "while".

And I haven't loved you in quite a while.

Some become strangers. Some drift apart.
Some grow old and don't have the energy
for thinking much about a once love gone
or to keep playing sad songs on a burnt CD

tossed out the window
crossed the inuendo
and the last burned bridge.

..."tossed out the window
crossed the inuendo
and the last burned bridge."

Summed up and succinct.
Change and healing.

Dear Dixie, he must have broken your heart my dear friend and today you write about him again. Enjoyed the read my friend, thanks for sharing. Keep throwing in that smile Dixie, makes all the difference. I throw many smiles and it is good to have them returned two fold. Try to enjoy your day my friend, we shall chat later.

Reminds me of a relationship from days past...and when I thought she was gone for good I started giving things away she had left with me, and then she came back, and ask where these items were...James

Passing shadows,

This is a good poem.  I particularly like:
“a once love gone”
That’s a great little term.

"And I haven't loved you in quite a while."

oh Dixie
those thick headed men can drive you to distraction
but they make for great poems
and this is one...
