Faded dreams and memories
Fall down with the tears
As time around me stretches
Back and forth across the years

I fear by now it may be too late
To turn back the clock to another date
For now my life is half over
Or perhaps it's almost done

And I've had my chance
As with a backward glance
I wish I could have another one

But it is no use pretending
There are things that I would change
Because given my time over
I would probably do the same

Except that I would not have lost touch
With friends who came to mean so much
For with the benefit of hindsight
That is my greatest regret

But I shall endeavour to make amends
In the time that I have left
Although most of the bridges burnt
Are way beyond repair

Broken fences can always be rebuilt
If we really, truly care......

Sometimes fences fall down and we just have to build new ones, stronger ones. Enjoyed

I think we all have our own fences to build
And this is a poignant reminder of that. Very much enjoyed...

AW, you may want to revisit Simons 'Broccoli' as you may not be aware you got a mention in dispatches !

effjayel, it's true that faded dreams and memories,
make us what we are today, and actually give us
the wisdom and strength to make those amends
and move on.
Sometimes when I have begun a bridge rebuilding,
I have been surprised to find that someone else is
building from the other side.
This is a wonderfully "open" write of yours and has touched me.

Thank you for your kind words, I can tell you are indeed wise! Unfortunately, in my experience, the rebuilding has usually been one sided & the other player(s) are too stubborn to pick up a stone and start construction from their side. However, being an eternal optomist, I live in hope.Take care and thanks again, glad you enjoyed it.
