Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

Cold hands comfort

Clenched between fingers firm
Steam wafting to entice senses
As I drink Campbell’s soup in a cup

Chicken Noodle or Tomato
Cream of Mushroom or Potato
It’s a memory book to my mouth

Offer of silent support when sick or well
Pot simmering on the gas burner
Stirring gently with a wooden spoon

Waiting with longing
For cold hands comfort
...

your poem gently and effectively takes the reader right to the experience
(and to fond memories of such things)...just as a scent can so quickly
and strongly trigger the past to loom large!

applause!!

Donna,

Pull a chair.  Soups on and there's a cup on the counter there for you.

Funny.  That's what I was drinking when I wrote this.  It's one of my favorites.

Dear Alison, this brings a longing for a cup, not cold here as there; your words give the thoughts of winter and the feel of warmth. Thank you for sharing.

just getting over and FULL case of the flue - 104 degrees for two days, additional fever for the next 4...and all the rest of symptoms...sick as a dog....so this piece rings well. once i could eat again soup was it...green pea in particualr...and by Campbells, of course.

Loved the way  this was put together...

Nothing like wrapping cold hands around a hot cup of steaming Campbell's soup! Aw! the memories! ~ Now I make my own soup from scratch! ~ Well, most of the time...

I am notorious for crushing up lots of crackers in my Campbell soup! ~ especially into mushroom or tomato. Yum, Yum!

I raise a nice hot cup of Campbell's to you on this freezing cold day! Brrrrr
