Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

Winter closes in with ferocious intent
Bitter cold hangs from bared branches
as fog swirls colors too often unnoticed.

Blind eyes are closed to nature’s gift
but, in the still frozen morn
as the living hunker down in survival mode

colors blossom in muted hues

...

I love a good poetic picture & this is very vivid. Don't really want to be reminded how horrible it currently is outside but your words paint a detailed picture.

You know how I love this scenery as well as your accompanying words, dear Alison.

There are wonderful colors in this picture which here on the monitor seems a little too dark to see this.

To live next to trees like these is a dream for me ...

love and hugs
Margherita

Thank you all.  I really appreciate the kindness each of you show in your responses.

Yes, it's a bit dark, isn't it.  That was at 8:30 am yesterday morning.  I was taking a picture of the icefog and when I looked at the picture - I saw a muted prism of colors.  It was a surprise as I never noticed color in ice fog.  I guess it was ice crystals in the lights.

Anyway, thank you again - each of you bring smiles to me.

A

Hi Jaime,

This poem is accompanied with a photo that I took.  The picture is a bit dark as it was dark and there was ice fog when I took it.

What I love about this picture (and what inspired the poem) is that when I looked at it - there were soft pinks, and greenish-blues muted among the spruce trees.  The picture is a line of trees and cold foggy air.  I was entranced by the colors that I had never seen with the bare eyes.  And, I realized that we all are somewhat sight impaired.

Thinking of you, my friend -

Alison

very fine 'Winteresque' write!

I am especially fond of:

"Winter closes in with ferocious intent
Bitter cold hangs from bared branches
as fog swirls colors too often unnoticed."

(particularly the image in the last line above)

significant applause!!

~ Brrr! We're snowed in! School buses have not been running for the past couple of days.

When it begins to warm up, we get those muted mists that are so peaceful and calming.

Giving you an extra warm hug from one who is also "hunkered down in survival mode"!!! lol
