I'm a passer-by
And I pass other passers by
By
When I'm walking down the street
A passing word
A passing wave
To everyone I meet.

A passing smile
A passing moment
A passing interest
That soon,
Passes.

And I suppose we're all passers-by
Carefully making our way somewhere
Never really knowing
Where we're going
Or when
We're supposed to get there.

Simon,

Excellent work.

Your title brings to mind Maxim Gorki's great classic, "Bystander".

BTW, "Bystander" is an excellent read.

Yes, "I suppose we're all passers-by" but there can be wonderful surprises in store for us if we were to stop, meet, and greet! lol

I enjoyed your poem!

Yes, we are all Passerby's, I guess - but what I really love is that you smile, wave and greet those that you are passing.  I am smiling now - and I am glad that you are here, sharing parts of you with us.

Marchmadness: I am pleased I caught your eye whilst you were passing by, thank you.

Arctic Wind: Thank you for your ongoing support, it brings me a great deal of pleasure.

Bobby Jordan: I must admit I have never heard of that book but, it sounds great! I like the idea of a reccomendation from yourself so I will seek it out! Thank you for your kind words...

RDB: Thank you as ever for your kind words as ever, the mean an awful lot to me.

Earth Angel: I can imagine you seldom 'pass by'& that is something about which you should be very proud, I agree, there can be loads of rewarding surprises out there if only we explored the possibilities. Thanx for your kind words.

Angela: Oh, thank you so much for your incredibly kind words. They mean so much to me, again, thank you.

There is movement and kindness ... and awareness in this very lovely poem.

Enjoyed the rhythm it holds too.

love
