Felix is a hoodlum.
Everybody knows it.

The parents tell their children,
“Stay away from Felix”.

Felix is the most popular
kid in the school.

Everyone wants
to be his friend.

Bobby

Passing shadows,

Hey, come-on now, Felix is just a kid.  He might be a hoodlum, but he's just small, and harmless.

He's a good guy.

Felix seems more like a victim of circumstance than a hoodlum to me.

Ida,

What you say is true.  I’ll never forget how one of the parents in the hood described me when I was young:

“He someone that lives to fight, and fights to live.”

Yo RDB,

Felix says thanks, he needs all the friends he can get.

Simon,

What you say is very true, and that’s many times the way it should be.  There is no way for parents to understand kids that are not their own, but there children can.

Passing shadows,

That’s a shame hon.  No one should pull that kind of crap on another person.  It’s not right.

Thanks all for the kind comments.

your initial posts (and the subsequent 'comment/reply'
posts they garner) get more interesting all the time!

[they help contribute to the makings of a
rather diverse and lively 'open' forum!]

continuing applause for Felix's 'story!'

I am glad that Felix has many friends in school.   But no matter what, I feel sad, just sad.

TomMark,

Yes, Felix's early life was very sad.  However, as he got older, things got easier.

All my books have happy endings.

It is interesting how "the everybody knows it" can sign a person, a child, who sometimes as a reaction to the judgement really becomes aggressive.
He takes initiatives and the other children arrive to admire him.
Your story continues to make us ponder, dear Bobby. Well done!

love

I'm giving away my age when I say I remeber Felix the Cat in the comics.  He predated Garfield by far and yes he was a lovable hoodlum.  Only Felix I have ever heard of but I think I recognize the type.  Hooray for Felix.  Joyce

Margherita,

You got it.  You speak the truth.  Felix says thanks for the smile.  The Felix of the world needs all the smiles they can get.

Joyce Johnson,

Yes, I too remember Felix the Cat.  Felix says thanks for the hooray.
