No right mind could be wrong this many times.
I guess I just wasn't listening close enough.
You and me will always be tween the lines
and the road was never supposed to be this rough.

I can't sleep right now to save my life.
Too much of this sad song playing in my head.
You and me will always be tween the lines
and there will be those things left unsaid.

I thought I thought I was ready for this.
I tell myself I told myself I knew better.
You and me will always be tween the lines,
and we fit the perfect storm to the letter.

So I do the only thing there's left to do.
I smile and laugh and surround me with me.
Too old for lies and cryptic ties that bind,
and accept that I can no longer find to be
tween the lines.

"Too old for lies and cryptic ties that bind"

Life gets as complicated as we allow it. The art is being able to  simplify it .  Sounds to me like your being strong and standing your ground. If something feels right ... then it would  feel positive straight down the line .

You are such a strong woman - and I admire how you look deep inside and find your strength. Does that make sense?  That's how I see you in your poetry.

Wonderful write -

extremely strong post! I too LOVE this song--such a sad melancholy tune but Sarah is brilliant. However, it is through YOUR words, that I really understand the message. Beautiful write!

Take care,

Amy

Passing shadows,

This is well written.  For some reason, the meaning just eludes me.

I don't fully understand "Between the lines."

What dooes that mean.

Hey everyone! Thanks for such great comments! I lvoe them all.

Bobby, sometimes I don't know what I'm writing or what it's supposed to mean, so don't feel bad. Between the lines...well, that's kinda just saying that the relationship isn't never just straight up and I never know where we stand...having to read between the lines all the time...it's a pain as one gets older. Really I just want something that is to the point and I know what I'm dealing with. Actually I think it's like playing games. I'm just too old and tired for playing anymore.

make sense?

ever since i started reading you, i've felt a kind of kinship .. we have a bit in common, ya know .. i have a 'tween the lines kinda thing too, and i agree .. i'm too old to play that game anymore.

your writes touch me every time, and almost always strike a familiar chord

Dixie,

At first, I thought that this was about a love relationship, but now I'm thinking it could be about most type.  For example, there are some people that just like to play with power.  It may not be what they say that is hard to read, but why they say it.
As always, I've enjoyed reading your poetry.
Wish I could stop by more often.   Your writing always provide me food for thought.
