Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

He said that he hates that the snow is so noisy
He misses soft, fluffy snow
that leaves silent trails to mark where he has been
He dislikes the sound of it here,
the irritating squeak, under his boots

He said that he likes it here okay
but it will never feel like home
as long as the snow remains so noisy

Yep, the snow here squeaks really loud with each step.  The moisture gets sucked right out of it and it remains but it is noisy.  We live in a winter desert here in the interior of AK.

Thanks for understanding, reading and responding.

Alison,

Like kids, snow should be seen, and not heard.

Bobby,

I disagree.

I often find that children make more sense than adults and make me laugh more often with their honesty and humor.

but also to the contray for it does cause peace for there are no bugs for a season,
and it does perk a person up.
Oh.. so good  to be Canadian, would not trade it for anything for it does teach patience something the world truly does lack.

This snow lament is powerfully inspiring to me, dear Alison, insofar it reminds me of how I LOVE the scrunching snow!

I remember once when it snowed here in Rome (which is rare) I went out to enjoy the white beauty and I expressly walked to feel and "hear" the snow-talk, which brought me back to childhood and youth, where I had abundance of snow experiences.

zacubus,

As an Alaskan, I know just what you mean.  And snow has all sorts of qualities from noisy to totally enticing.  Thank you for commenting.

When it is really cold here ... like -40 and colder (farenheit), the snow squeaks like a door that needs to be oiled.  Most of us just take it in our stride (pardon the pun) but it can really bug some people.  Of course, anything can bug some people!!!

Xoxoxo

Dixie, darlin'

You'd make it just fine - you'd just complain like the rest of us.  It is part of our culture, you know.  Compare temperatures and complain about the ice and snow.  But we never do that to those from out of state - it's like taking a fight out of a family.  We gotta look tough to the rest of the world (don't tell that I told the AK secret, okay?).

Love,
A
