Held Least Against You

The swaggering of tongues like chimes
Have come against me whence imperative the rhymes
Though words, just words, in atrophy against the warmth of sand
Are not at all the loving gift each night had planned

In time, to realize the ways of me, yet to define
Immortal in the stars that lit your eyes, to know in time
Restless in the waiting, for the once almost forgot
When feelings grow and shimmer unprovoked or not

That unintended echo of my heart cannot be still
Though try and try I might, made to relent against my will
And yes, I will succumb to dreams, the tide of overboard
For dreams of you are simply wishes making known their true accord

Though I am not the same without you near
I lay and listen most attentively and clear
And may I say, without a doubt at all my dear
Held least against you,and mostly want to be, I fear

I hear an echo in my heart...a sound so familiar as to chase away all fear.
