My friend is strong and he is forever my hero He has fought a long and hard battle and like a soldier, he has not quit His body does not seem like his own It has failed him, but my friend is strong I can’t quantify what makes him a man I can’t make you see him or feel him or hear his voice or see his smile I can only tell you that there is a man - fighting to stay alive and he is tired But, he has not quit He is not a quitter That makes him my hero and a fighter When I think of him I think of family and beaches and sunsets I think of kindness and honor and dedication I think of sunshine and sun tans and waves lapping the sand I think of my friend, Cade, and I am proud. ---- With love to you, my friend.
