As we bid farewell to our beloved Seymour please take some time to visit our PiPtalk REMEMBER page.

You can take a moment to remember Sy, as well as others who have passed on.  I wrote this villanelle for my Dad's funeral, and I proudly repost it for a dear man who has surely taken on that role for many of us here at PiPtalk.

We Held Your Hand

We hearkened to resounds of heaven’s whispering
Your name, beheld in countenance of sovereign Grace.
We held your hand until we heard the angels sing

In harmonies melodic as the spawn of spring,
Extolling visions of a hallowed time and place.
We hearkened to resounds of heaven’s whispering

A song so sweet, our yearning hearts envisioning
Your dancing blithefully about celestial space.
We held your hand until we heard the angels sing

Songs of release from burdens earthly trek may bring,
Our visions with the stars to see your joyous face.
We hearkened to resounds of heaven’s whispering.

Bequeathing now our hold to end all suffering,
For mortal days so surely wrought in steadfast pace.
We held your hand until we heard the angels sing

One hand in ours, one touched upon seraphic wing,
Our grasp released to bind ethereal embrace.
We hearkened to resounds of heaven’s whispering;
We held your hand until we heard the angels sing

God be with you, Dear Sy

Nan, Sy's passing has been such an emotional experience for all those whose life he has touched. You were very fortunate to have known him in person.

Your beautiful villanelle has served two men, very well, indeed.

I just checked out the REMEMBER link, and I literally started to cry. What a wonderful tribute to each of our pip poets who have passed. Nan, you are so special and you do so much to make this place a home for us all.

Thank you for all you do. It is very much appreciated.

God bless Seymour and all of our other friends who have passed ~ and you.

Nan,
This has always been one of my favorite poems on PIP, and a reminder of how a vilanelle should be written, but more than that a beautiful tribute reposted for our dear dear friend. Thank you

Your poem is absolutely beautiful Nan.

I clicked on your link ... and I adore the "Passions in Peace" page. You have done a wonderful job of remembering our loved ones. It was like a little walk down memory lane to see Wilfred, Lyra, Michael, Becky, Fagin ... and sweet Sy. Just wonderful. Im glad we have a place to go and pay our respects.

Thank you sooooo much Nan. You get a big {{{hug}}}

Best wishes and many more hugs where that came from,
/Kit

Oh dear friend,
I remember this piece well and recall a day in PA when I heard you read this particular poem in your own sweet voice. Some of my fondest memories stem around that poets meeting that April yeaars ago in Cape Cod and the friendships that were bonded from that time. Even though not a steady presence here on Passions anymore, I too will miss this wonderful gentleman and friend. This is a lovely tribute to him

Dear Nan, this is a wonderful poem and tribute to dear Seymour. Very moving also the thought that you could use the same words in remembrance of your dear Father and of dear Seymour.

I also visited the REMEMBER page and was really deeply touched. I think this page makes this place even more a true, significant community. It means this is a place where our lives are connected and the souls continue to linger here even after they move on ... their poems being the channel of communication. Wonderful, thank you!!

Love and hugs, holding Seymour close within my heart.

Yep, I remember your first trip to Florida. There I was - tall, handsome stranger, winner of the poetry contest at Borders - and there was Sy - elderly, almost bald, short - and all night it was you and Sy, arm in arm, with me waving my hands, screaming, "What about me????"

I had no idea at the time you were such a good judge of character
