Back in my own shoes
with many miles ahead.
Freedom of speech
with much to be said.

Back in my own shoes
with many miles behind.
Pieces of me left back there
but I don't seem to mind.

Back in my own shoes
with sore feet and heavy load.
My soles have holes
and my toes are froze;
it's going to be a long, hard road.

It seems lately
life has left my muse,
but it sure is good to be
back in my own shoes.

this is a special 'thank you' to those of you who were there for me when I was in those ugly jail shower shoes.
Love you guys.

My dear, I am always glad to see you, no matter what shoes you wear... and I am glad also that you have much to be said. Your words have always inspired me. Whatever the road you are on, I will walk with you if you need me to. I have been away too long...and have missed your writing immensely!

So glad, Dixie, that you are back.  Sometimes my own shoes can be pretty uncomfortable when a particular realization hits but I wear them in until the "pain" disappears and then I know that I have triumphed.

Enjoyed your words as always.

thanks friends for such encouraging comments

It's been a very challenging time for me and I haven't been writing as much as I want to...but hopefully that will change soon

very effective, real, emotive 'write!'

I wish that I could achieve this state of mind:

"Pieces of me left back there
but I don't seem to mind..."

[I've become Swiss-cheese, self-parody
  'ghost'...way too many 'missing pieces!']

applause for this 'penning!'

Passing Shadows,

Good work, and welcome back.

Burn those old jail shoes.  No matter how cold your feet get, you can always run somewhere.

I missed you.  I know I keep saying that, but it is true.
