Dark

My eyes might have seen the glory,
But not this story,
More often it’s seen the gory.
For I will walk in the park
In the hours of dark
When the living are stark
Of hope.

There used to be a bit of light
To guide seekers through the night,
Now it’s so slight
In a realm controlled by brutal thugs
Selling evil and vile drugs,
To which authority shrugs;
Gone hope.

Dank

What liquid runs red
But the remnant of the dead
So recently removed where bled
So uselessly life was shed
For a few coins.

Dismal

So I stand midst my midnight stroll
Staring at a faded stain
Where drugs and its greed took toll,
It’s all that does remain,
For no interest comes forth
To assess the victim’s worth
And the impact the family feels
Responsibly carelessly shed
As if the man was not even real
Yet he’s hopelessly dead.

You must be very brave to go for a midnight stroll in that park. I like the way you describe what is all too real and very sad these days.
