what to do when the foot
sets itself on the rug
the foot of the bed
feels the touch of a toe
and the person alights
puts a bodily weight
is there a party today?

on an ever so precious
mechanism
hinged at the ankle
shift, maneuver
graces his way
to a slit in the lower door
a canister for mail
future stands in print
a party cometh

the man is merely erect
and the search for right letters
continues among the bills
spoiled invitations
wrong addresses
tax solicitations
to pay on-line

lo and behold
there is a light from
one such post
a party light
for clumsy foreign actors
in the company
yet at odds
with evermore clumsier crowds
outside of loose invitations

concentrated at his foot
in the door of a host
he will tip-toe in
sample a sherry
small talk
and leave
richer for himself
poorer crowds being
ill to receive.

Martin, this is an intriguing write. I see
a little more of the scene every time I read it.
