Between the Lines

     Acceptance

Some days it seems so lonely
  when the only words you hear
are those inside your head that whisper
  chaotic thoughts, once dear.

And so you put on that face
  the one that  hides the pain
and fear, that comes each morning light
  holding back the future's gain.

You wonder what really is the worth
  when darkness fills the mind,
imprisoning the beating of
  a heart now misaligned.

But he is only a beat away,
  can feel the rhythm's pound,
while waiting for the turn of time
  and spirit to rebound.

On one hand weighs the next of light
  on the other fisted dark.
Opening up to what will be
  as acceptance leaves its mark.

The above rather effectively sums up the 21st. century
"Runaway American Dream"...the ever-accelerating pace
of life, the internet, and other factors isolating so many
of us more and more from each other...

applause...especially for the honesty of this write!

This is deeply poignant, dear Maureen. Acceptance is a way to soothe the pain momentaneously, but reaction is stronger.

It takes courage to not let situations
overwhelm us and I can't give any advice!

One thing I know: you are a beautiful soul
and deserve to enjoy dawn for it brings new opportunities always ...

I know all about acceptance. There are some things that I had to accept, that I fought for quite a long time. I know where this is coming from. I only wish there was something I could do.
