So which one of me is here today
to surprise me with what she has to say?
It seems that I either think without talking
or talk without thinking.
One of me is pensive, careful and kind,
the other just says what is on her mind.
Surely I'm old enough
to get this child under control.
For one thing is certain,
I'm getting too old,
of that there is no doubt,
to assume the position it takes
to get my foot out of my mouth.

Man, Ida, I can sure identify with these words.  Have you ever tried pushing both feet in at once?  It's a challenge, but can be done.

I love the poem. What a truth. I shall never let my inner child grow up..which is my purest part though mischievous some time.

enjoyed your poem as always

What about those kind of folks who only ever open
their mouths long (and wide) enough to change feet?!

interesting 'write!'

applause!!

Marchmadness,

This is cute.  One thing--in the line:

"I'm getting to old,"

that "to" should be changed to "too"

This is an interesting write, dear Ida.
I think it is an advantage when we know our double or multiple characterial aspects, so we can consciously choose with which one we can obtain what we want to obtain. Too much control isn't indeed a good idea, but if we listen to our inner wisdom we will be able to act accordingly without surpassing certain limits and rules, which have their reason to exist.

I too love the child within, may it always talk loud!

love,
Margherita

Thank you for your comments Margarita and Uriah. I always read you both even if I don't have time to comment sometimes. Never miss either one.
