in the shadows

I wish you were alive,
like when I was yet a boy,
to tell again of times
when angels flew
high above hopes of men
in quiet still of twilight
where you kept their dreams
from withered death
with stories of their struggles,
victories on the killing fields,
losses in the jaws of dark despair.

When I was little,
hard and very cold,
you helped get it through my Celtic head,
it doesn't matter what or where
wizards of lost consciousness
have said about carrying the mystic load,
about karma and the Way of Life;
while living we each are but a solitaire
and every body takes what steps it may,
then in the end on falling down
we each are but the sloppy dead.

Some ideas appear,
not unwanted just unknown,
a hitcher
hot,
flashing skin
at hungry eyes of understanding,
leaning up against a signpost
planted in the soft tar edge of Georgia blacktop
in August
when liquid heat drains into clothes
until they stick and must be shed
to lead on to places never dreamt
bending flesh and foment to future stories
better left unsaid.

As always, I am about to run out but I am coming back to inhale this a bit more deeply..

you penetrated something you have no idea about...or maybe you do...and if so?  if your going to feel me, then please, guide me, just a little please?..

Of course you know I'm a fan of your writing, icebox.  I could highlight much more but this I "like"!

hmmm..true, so true...

my steps sometimes flounder in stumble of confusion and sometimes they sink in the wet of my tears, but always they are my steps.

icebox...Very vivid and touching write. Makes one wonder about what matters in life.
Just so you know I have always admired your style of writting.
I would love to read those stories better left untold you touched on...Paul

You have woven your thoughts together so masterfully that I can't pick out a single part to quote it. The title is equally captivating!!

I believe in Oneness, but our individuality and sometimes our solitude are nonetheless always strongly felt. We long for someone who makes/or has made us believe in being looked after, cherished, loved and protected, always guided so that we would never really lose the path ...

... one day the future stories will be unveiled, for now their mystery keeps us wondering.

Your profound, significant words lead to personal considerations, you see!

love,
Margherita
