The beaten path

There's a beaten path behind the house
that everybody knows.
(and if you tread upon the path
be sure and hold your nose!)

It leads not to the spring house,
down by the bubbling brook...
but if you plan to linger long
be sure and bring a book!

This little house with a little moon
has a foul but noble cause...
sometimes you'll need to linger long,
while others mearly pause.

This little house behind the house
has no heat nor light...
so be sure to use two corn cobs red
before you use the white!

"Ya have to kiss a lot of frogs before you meet your prince... just watch out for all the pond scum!!!"

... s'Hüsli ... (Swiss German) for what you intend here, I think ... but "use the corn cob red and white" is something I don't understand.

A glimpse into a reality of more than a century ago!

What it had to be in winter!!!

This little house was also a memory of mine, until I was about seven years old.

in response to the question concerning the colors of the corn cobs:
you would first use 2 of the red cobs to wipe your arse after a shite...

and then one of the white (to see if u were clean enough)

of course a sears n robuck catalog was preferable, but it just didn't work for the poem
