I.
Trivial matters of faith
Never seemed important to me.
A whole life waiting and praying
Is not a task for a weak heart.
I will never understand the soul,
Little, which is worthwhile.
Countless omens and prophecies preached by a world of fakes-
How could I ever come to terms with such words.

II.
A passing grin on a wrinkled face;
almost anxious to see-
What constant worship did bring him.
Lying on your death bed-
Why are you smiling?

III.
The constant struggle between the written word-
Sounds so sweet to the untainted ear.
Brought up and raised to be forever grateful-
To a figure only imagined, and never seen,
Did they really have a choice to begin with?

IV.
An unpleasant look crosses a young boys face-
The seams coming undone about what to believe.
A pair of lips cracked apart-
Presenting the crevice in his faith.
Is that really temptation?

In faith, as in life, what are the real demons we face?

Hi all, this is my first post. Be gentle, and Crit is welcome.

A thought provoking offering.
I especially enjoyed the candor in this:

"Countless omens and prophesies preached by a world of fakes-
How could I ever come to terms with such words."
