In the darkest hour
Of my mind
I feel so tired and dreary
Lonesome thoughts
Fill my head
The lack of love is eerie

For myself
I must confess
That I feel so cold and hot
Icy fingers
Around my neck
Alone, my heart did stop

The lights go out
The pain inside
Sweat drips down my brow
I call her out
In my sleep
The hurt was gone til now

Awake I sit
Alone in bed
I await the silent dawn
Afraid to sleep
The feeling I dread
Of love I feel withdrawn

The sins I’ve made
I’ve reaped and sowed
My visions all astray
Of better times
I remember still
Alone I sit and pray

Of better days
To come and go
To someday tie the knot
Eternally
And faithfully
To have another shot

Better to die, and sleep
The never-waking sleep, than linger on
And dare to live when the souls life is gone.
