LONG AGO fluttered two tiny fairies.
They lived in the trunk of a tree.
So content in their itty, bitty space,
As comfy as two wee fairies could be.

Sugar, was fat as an elephant's hat,
And Lemon was as thin as a dime;
They managed to live in great harmony,
In that hollow tree, covered with vines.

One night a loud crash woke them up.
A horrible bump and thump in the night.
Their beds started rocking and shaking,
In their window streamed a bright light!

"Oh my!" said Sugar, "A star's stuck in our tree!"
They ran into the night to see what they could see.
"Let’s think now before this night turns to day,
Of a plan," Lemon said, "To set the star free."

Fluttering up that tree they flew to the top,
They pushed and pushed with all of their might,
But that star wouldn't budge – no, not an inch,
How could they send it back up into the night?

Other stars crowded around, watching and wishing,
The commotion brought over the man in the moon.
Sugar scratched her head, THEN came up with a plan,
And started quickly blowing up all her balloons.

"What on earth are you doing you silly fairy?"
Lemon cried, "Now is not the time to play!"
Sugar said, "Come on, start blowing and hurry,
Let’s get this star stuck in our tree on its way!"

Sugar blew balloons up as fast as she could.
Lemon searched the forest both near and far,
Looking for spider webs to spin into threads,
Well, then...they tied those balloons to that star.

They pushed and pushed, and set the star free,
And up, up, it floated away into the sky,
Now every night that star shines ever so brightly
Winking at Sugar and Lemon as it slowly flies by.

If you believe as I do in all fairies, and,
If you watch the sky very carefully each night,
You will see that fairies really do exist
As your special star winks at you in its flight.

~* The End For Now *~

There are two morals to this story:
~* Different people can live together and get along *~
~* If you believe in fairies, a star will always light your way *~

A fairy tale to capture a child's imagination! ~ and the marvelous morals to the story are intricately woven into this magical tapestry!

Simply delightful! ~ and yes, I am a believer!

Arctic Wind, I do tons of these for my grandkids - they love stories in bed that I make up on the fly when they stay over.  We have a big binder full of these, and one of these days I am going to do just that - illustrate the stories and get them printed into two books to give to them so they will hopefully always remember me.  Our sleepovers here are all about fairies, all the time.  Thanks for the challenge.

that is so cool Mysteria, Rosey has been doing that (telling stories) for years with our kids... I'm in the mood for her reading me "Mrs. Mike" again... Very nice dear heart...

Dear Sharon, this is true delight! And I do love the picture you set up, I could be Sugar and live in that tree, especially after being friends with the stars!

Your heart brims with fantasy.

That book should be published indeed!

Love and fairy hugs.
Margherita
