FOR SIMME YAGAMBARAM’S CHILDREN AND FAMILY AND FRIENDS
15 December 2007

Once upon a time
God sent an angel to Earth.
He called her Simme
and her mission was
to bless all who knew her, with her goodness.
This she did and more
for she instantly touched the lives of all around her
and taught us, inspired us, encouraged us
and brought us light, love, warmth, faith,
courage, honesty, strength, compassion, guidance,
happiness, smiles and laughter.

Evil forces are always jealous of the good
and they brought her much suffering
but those forces could not make her evil too
so instead they punished her for her goodness
and wrenched her away from her loved ones
and tried to destroy her,

but she triumphed over the evil forces and Death
because God immediately swept her up in His loving arms
and took her back to Heaven from where He had sent her
and now she is in a place
where she is forever safe
and nothing can hurt her ever again
and she will spend the rest of Time
smiling her love and protection and encouragement
down on her children and family and friends.

What we can do for her
is to honour her
and make her smile
by letting her see that we have learnt well from her
and we have made her gifts to us, our own,
and we are continuing her good work
by passing those things on
to everyone we know
without ceasing.

When things seem
dark and difficult
she will want us
to pause in the midst of our pain,
and in the stillness, feel
the warmth
and love
and compassion
and protection
of her loving angel wings
wrapped gently around us
encouraging us to go on teaching others
as she has taught us.

When we are confused and don’t know what to do,
let us pause and think,
“What advice would she give us, in this particular case, if she were still here on Earth?”
then she will send her words
to our innermost hearts and minds
but we must listen carefully.

Won’t you,
for a moment
lift your face
to the Heavens
and smile your courage up at her
and feel her
smiling back?

We thank God
for the honour He bestowed upon us
for giving us Simme
as a mother, daughter, sister, family member and friend.

Thank you, James.  Yes she was.  She was a colleague of mine at the temp job where I have been working since 8 November 2007.

We heard with horror, on Friday morning, that her husband had shot her dead on both sides of the head and then himself through the heart the previous afternoon.  He did this in full view of their 12 year old child and their 10 year old was in the house.

Your words go straight to the heart and I can feel her undefeated, smiling her goodness down from Heaven.
You are no less divinely equipped dear Diana, for you have put the accent on the good, which indeed reigns supreme above all the evil.

Thank you for sharing the gift of love today.

Love,
Margherita

Thanks Karen.  I wish I could wake up and find it was just a stupid nightmare.

Thanks, Margherita.  Simme (pronounced Simmie) was such a ray of sunshine, that she couldn't but have this influence on the people who knew her.

How tragic for those two children, to lose both parents by such violence, and now left alone.
My guess is there are relatives and friends who will shelter them.
Please accept my condolences and heartfelt healing thoughts.

Diana, I am literally keying this reply with teardrops spilling on my keyboard.

Upon first reading this poem, I was saving it because of the message ~ and your fine writing. Now, after having read in your replies what inspired you, I am also saving it as a tribute to Simme the woman. I am sick at heart at the tragedy of it all ~ and her poor, unfortunate children.

Deeply saddened,

Linda

I am so sorry, Owl that you had to suffer this terrible tragedy. How awful for the family. Please take care of yourself, I worry about you.

Thank you Artic Wind.

Thank you passing shadows.

Thank you Kacy.  The children will be looked after by Simme's mom.

Thank you Linda, especially for the tribute to Simme.  It crunches me up that the children were in the house and one of them was in the room.

Thank you Lindsay.

Thank you Ida and for your concern for me.
