Waiting, waiting, tap-tap-tap;
love’s standing in a queue
praying for disbursement
of everybody’s needs
but of prayer it goes a-wandering
ahead to what will be
and leaves this present lifetime
simply how it’s meant to be.

Then starts the squirm and shuffle
that misaligns intent
to stand a woman centred
in a queue that never ends
and so leans the will left and right
for easier forbearance
and tolerance.

And in this time of wait and pray
the heart slows down its pace
in preparation for the move
back into the gait
of practicality.

Finally, decidedly,
love moves into the fray
weighted down and laden
with what it doesn’t need
but in-between the packaging
lies goodwill to everyone
and love is better, stronger,
for the next time around!

This is a very comforting thought indeed, dear Helen. We sometimes ask too much of ourselves too, so we need to calm down and to simply affirm that all is well ... but the Buddhist thought is not everybody's easy solution.

Beautiful write!

Love and hugs.
